About the Place

A room in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. No Pets Allowed. Nearby subway stations include: Myrtle - Willoughby Avs. About the room: Dimenstions: approx 12'3'' by 10'10'' (rounded down - we're awaiting an exact number from management) Rent: $1062.50 a month Utilities: Split evenly, about 60-120 a month for water, electric, and internet Space; The apartment is on the second floor of a building, a short walk up. Shared living room - the roommate leaving is taking his couch, coffee table, and absurdist art with him, so we'll be redecorating to make the space comfier/more liveable, including a rug and TV. I'll be financing most of that but we're all giving input on the layout and what exactly to buy. We’ve also got all the kitchen basics already so no need to buy a new set and there's 2 bathrooms so you only share with one other person -- no need to compete in the mornings. There’s also a washer/dryer for the building in the basement, which is hooked up to a laundry card so no need for quarters. There's access to the building rooftop, a huge space with a view of manhattan in the distance, and they recently added tiles. Great place to watch the sun rise while sipping tea in the morning, or enjoy the night skyline with a glass of wine. I've hosted large events up there (pre-pandemic) as well and it's great for entertaining. The room itself is the largest in the apartment. It overlooks a shared patio garden space - main access is through my room and since moving in I’ve purchased and added all the tiles and furnishing you see, free to shared use. The only ask is that you treat them well too, and we check with eachother before having guests out there. If you ask I can also put out the hammock (it's just kept inside for weather). The space has been great for outdoor lounging to stay sane during covid. Location; The big draw. Our apartment is a 10-15 minute walk to the JMZ at Myrtle-Bway in one direction, or a 10 minute walk to the G at Bedford-Nostrand in the other. There’s two bus stops right outside the apartment for getting around brooklyn or into the city, and a bike lane right outside with 2 citibike stations within 2 blocks. On the next block over is a great little supermarket that's always well stocked, and further down that same street is an affordable laundromat with wash and fold if you want to skip on using the basement machines or keep a busy schedule. It’s located right above both a chinese takeout place and a liquor store (all your needs right there), and a brazilian place opened around the corner. There’s also a great coffee place across the street, and a lovely mini-diner down the block. And we’re only a 15 minute walk away (or an even shorter uber) from all the great art events and venues in Bushwick, without having to deal with the nightlife noise after coming home. We can’t consider pets (allergies, sorry!) About us: We all lead pretty active lives, so most of the time it feels like living alone. We will occasionally chat or hang out when down time lines up, which has been more frequent with the lockdown. 25F (Me): I work in accounting in midtown Manhattan, Presently I'm WFH in my room, but still rarely leave the room on work days due to overtime.. The rest of the year (when not in a pandemic), I tend to do a lot of travel on weekends and go out for events on weeknights. I do a lot of performance art activities as a side hobby, so you may bump into me in various crazy costumes and face paint. I'm also building my collection of tabletop games and love to share them with others. 23F: I’m a 22 y/o student and nanny. I am an extremely chill but friendly person who likes to listen to music, do yoga and paint. I generally enjoy alone time when at home but am always open to conversation and friendship. I tend to work later in the day about 10-7 and try to get out of the house on the weekends. 24F: I'm 24, moved to NY from NC to attend pharmacy school. I enjoy running, cooking, and exploring the city. Household is friendly, we're just all careful of smells/shared spaces. We can help you find roommates on Nooklyn.
