This neighborhood exists between the northernmost section of the Upper West Side, West Harlem, and Morningside Heights. Small pre-war buildings are characteristic of the mostly-residential area, but in recent years several modern high-rises have gone up, attracting new residents to the area. Manhattan Valley residents are lucky enough to have access to three of Manhattan’s major parks - Central Park, Morningside Park, and Riverside Park. Commercial offerings can be found along Broadway, Amsterdam, and Columbus Aves including staple watering holes Broadway Dive Bar and Bob’s Your Uncle. The area is starting to get attention from restaurateurs like celeb chef Rob McCue, who recently opened The Fat Monk on Columbus Ave, and a short walk north to Frederick Douglass Blvd takes you to Harlem’s Restaurant Row.
